

Sarah Atkinson RVN
Head Nurse
Sarah started working at Ashfield Vets in 2011 where she began her veterinary nurse training. In 2013 she qualified and subsequently stepped up to the position of Head Nurse in 2018. She has a keen interest in surgery and is aspiring to complete her diploma in surgical nursing. Sarah has cat called Milo that she adopted after he was brought in as an injured stray at our practice a Springador called Rupert.


Nicola Rennard RVN
Nursing Supervisor
Nicola has worked for Ashfield Vets since July 1989 and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2013. She is primarily based at our Wibsey surgery but does cover shifts at our other branches. Nicola has a special interest in theatre work, especially surgical cases utilising her expertise as a clinical coach to the students. Outside of work, Nicola spends time with her working Cocker Spaniel 'Harry' and her family. She has a love Greys Anatomy and all wildlife programmes.


Phillippa Royston RVN
Phillippa started her veterinary career in 2006 and went on to become a student veterinary nurse, later qualifying as a registered veterinary nurse in 2012. She has worked in hospitals, referral and first opinion practices as well as out of hour emergency practices. She is currently working towards her NCERT in veterinary dentistry.
At home Phillippa has two dogs, Lennie and Marley, two cats, Athena and Sloth and a guinea pig called Big G. She recently became a marine mammal medic with the BDMLR and in her spare time, she teaches pet first aid.

Melissa Green
Auxiliary Nurse
Melissa started her career at Ashfield as kennel nurse in September 2011 shortly after passing her BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management. She continued her learning journey, subsequently passing the Veterinary Care Assistant course through the College of Animal Welfare in October 2014. Melissa has a special interest working within our internal lab and dealing with inpatient referrals.


Samantha Sayle
Auxiliary Nurse
Samantha joined Ashfield Veterinary in 2016 having gained experience working in the customer service industry. Sam joined the team having gained animal care experience elsewhere whilst also obtaining relevant qualifications, including a Higher National Diploma in Animal Management.


Evie Northin
Animal Care Assistant
Evie joined the Headingley branch from our Wakefield surgery in 2017 having spent the previous seven years working at other Ashfield sites whilst studying to achieve a BSc (Hons) in Animal and Wildlife Management. Evie has many animals at home that consist of a cat called Lilly, a Jack Russell called Rocky and a Yorkshire Terrier called Raggles.
